We at Bibelot Nook love a Terrarium. Rising to the height of their popularity in the 1970s, Terrariums, coming from Terra (land) and arium (aquarium) actually evolved from the Wardian Case. The Wardian Case itself evolved from the need to protect plants when they were transported by boat from foreign lands!
